This is an annoying "feature".
en:Coppice redirects to en:Coppicing fr:Regime de Taillis redirects to fr:Taillis
Therefore, you can't associated en:Coppice with fr:Taillis, because en:Coppice is resolved as en:Coppicing which is already owned by the redirect page fr:Regime de Taillis.
In other words, if the choice between to related terms as to which redirects to where - i.e. lang1:production -> lang1:product vs lang2:product -> lang2:production, you cannot setup the lang1->lang2 links properly.
This is a feature-as-bug.
