Changing quotes

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Giorgia_Meloni&diff=prev&oldid=1238735664

Please dont change quotes (eg "I'm" -> "I am"), see MOS:QUOTE --FMSky (talk) 19:38, 13 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

@FMSky: you're right, but you have removed all my edits, even the useful ones. Could you remove only my error concerning quotes and not all my changes? Thank you. JacktheBrown (talk) 20:11, 13 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

There's a thread about "M.bitton" on ANI now

Hi, hope you're doing well! There's now a thread on ANI about this person on ANI (by other people) now Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents - Wikipedia. Just in case you didn't notice and would like to have a look / add anything. Fanny.doutaz (talk) 21:27, 13 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Fanny.doutaz: thank you, but according to Wikipedia rules this isn't permitted; see: WP:CANVASSING. JacktheBrown (talk) 00:10, 14 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi, I didn't know this was not permitted, thanks for letting me know! Fanny.doutaz (talk) 05:28, 14 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Fanny.doutaz: I advise you to take a break and carefully read Wikipedia:List of policies. JacktheBrown (talk) 10:07, 14 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
@JackkBrown thanks again :) will do Fanny.doutaz (talk) 10:09, 14 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Wikipedia:List of policies is very complete. JacktheBrown (talk) 10:12, 14 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Obviously also carefully read all the links on the page; with experience everything will be easier, for now it's very difficult to learn all this. JacktheBrown (talk) 10:30, 14 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
I've suggested it be added to Twinkle welcome messages. Doug Weller talk 10:54, 14 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Dear M.Bitton, I reverted your edit (here) because there's no point in doing it on all my comments. I assure you that all users have realised that I was (I'm not at fault) improperly invited into the discussion. What's the point of repeating it so many times? JacktheBrown (talk) 14:42, 14 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I've seen you changed the Fiat logo reverting to the old version (here), but that change is incorrect, because I made that edit based on the Fiat website (global). Even the Italian site shows the logo in colors.

Therefore I got back to that logo. If you have some disagreement with that, please leave a message at the article's talk page. Thanks, Fma12 (talk) 19:49, 15 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Fma12: "If you have some disagreement with that, please leave a message at the article's talk page."   Done; see: Talk:Fiat. JacktheBrown (talk) 12:48, 16 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Parma rosa sauce

I see that you removed mention of parma rosa sauce from the penne alla vodka article. Note that a quick Google search confirms that this sauce is real. While Knorr is the most well-known brand, there are others too. Trader Joe's recently released their own vodka-less pink sauce known as Rosatella. Also, there is a local Italian restaurant near my house that has a pink sauce called Sunrise Sauce, which I always order with my chicken parmigiana. I think there should be some mention of pink sauces without vodka. ANDROS1337TALK 20:46, 15 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Andros 1337: if you think it's correct to restore this information, you can do it without problems.
"Also, there is a local Italian restaurant near my house that has a pink sauce called Sunrise Sauce, which I always order with my chicken parmigiana." Italian-American restaurant, not Italian; chicken parmigiana isn't an Italian food. JacktheBrown (talk) 21:48, 15 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently edited a page related to gender-related disputes or controversies or people associated with them, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

 • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
 • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
 • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
 • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
 • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the template.

Quick point

Hey there, I hope you're doing well. One thing I thought might be worth bringing up is—I notice you have been asking people to use "he" instead of "they" when referring to you. To be clear, you're entitled to your preference, but I thought the reason you might be so uncomfortable is because you're not as familiar with its general connotations in English. Singular "they" is often used in passing by people to refer to others with no particular connotations as to the person's identity—it's gender-neutral in the broadest sense. I wanted to potentially clear things up in case you thought there was intent or particular connotations there. Cheers. Remsense ‥  05:19, 18 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Remsense: yes, I know very well the singular they (I always use it when necessary), but in any case I prefer "he". Thank you very much and cheers. JacktheBrown (talk) 11:58, 18 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Ukranie Russian war

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.. Slatersteven (talk) 15:05, 18 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Slatersteven: edit war? Not true. And anyway, if that were true, the edit war is with you, so there's no point in you sending me the warning. JacktheBrown (talk) 15:09, 18 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
You have reverted 1 2 3, a revert does not have to be all of an edit, only some of it. Slatersteven (talk) 15:15, 18 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
And no, not just me. Slatersteven (talk) 15:16, 18 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Anyone can give you a contentious topic, you can’t forbid them

This page doesn’t belong to you. Yes, you can remove things, that signifies that you’ve read it. “ Also, a user cannot avoid administrator attention or notices and communications that policies or guidelines require to be posted merely by demanding their talk page not be posted to. Still, repeatedly posting on a user's page after being asked not to, without good reason, may be seen as harassment or a similar kind of disruptive behavior.”. Doug Weller talk 19:22, 18 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Doug Weller: the user in question has never previously "banned" me from writing on their talk page, on the contrary they "banned" me without warning me first (see: [4]). I'm not at fault, I only contacted them once, today. JacktheBrown (talk) 19:25, 18 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
I’m just telling you policy. You can ban someone from the usual sort of posts, but not from giving you that alert. Doug Weller talk 20:29, 18 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

White pizza and Pizza bianca

I have now split the article. I believe you saw my proposal and didn't object.

We could use a photo of a pizza bianca, if you can get hold of one. If you can take it yourself, that is. Also, there's content from it:Pizza bianca that could be added to the English article. Un assiolo (talk) 17:33, 21 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Un assiolo: very good work, congratulations! JacktheBrown (talk) 18:28, 21 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
