Avalon (Energon)

Avalon is an Autobot from the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.

Even I didn't know what my grand scheme was until Furman blogged about it!

Avalon is a member of the Autobot High Council, seemingly one of the more empathic and reasonable ones. In truth, he is in league with Alpha Quintesson and uses his authority to manipulate his way to a goal that has something to do with "his/their rightful heritage." He is a careful mechanoid, aware that acting rashly and complacently will bring risks he can't afford.

As a member of the council, Avalon heard Optimus Prime's plea to invest into an investigation on the remaining Decepticons and their current activities. The plea went denied. This Evil Reborn Optimus returned with word that Unicron and Megatron were still alive, as well as a story that he had had a meeting with one called "Sig-Omega", topics the council treated with skepticism. They were aware though, of what complacency had brought them in the past, and so judged that Optimus Prime was allowed to investigate the case... alone. What Lies Beneath Optimus Prime went missing during his mission. Jetfire went to the council to ask for more troops and resources to continue Optimus's work on Earth. The members at first decided Cybertron's safety had priority, but Avalon in that moment reasoned that if the Terrorcons would revive Unicron, then no amount of troops or energy would keep Cybertron safe. This brought the council to reconsider their stance and grant Jetfire his request. Multiplicity Jetfire was deeply thankful to Avalon, which the councilor responded to in modesty, complimenting the Autobot second-in-command for the way he had handled himself in front of the council. Then Prowl came running in with a report on increased Terrorcon activity. The time for conversation expended, Avalon wished Jetfire good luck as he stormed off.

Later that day, Avalon looked over Cybertron from the seclusion of his home with the Initiator in his hands. He mused aloud about how everything was working out perfectly, before being contacted by none other than Alpha Quintesson. Multiplicity, Pt. 2 The two conversed about the status of their plan, Avalon reminding his ecstatic partner in crime that they had met failure before due to unforeseen developments. Alpha Quintesson told him he was too cautious, proclaiming nothing could go wrong. Multiplicity, Pt. 3

Jetfire returned from Earth to inform the council of the return of Megatron and the situation on the planet. Avalon asked if any trace had been found of Optimus Prime, and upon a negative reply claimed that they should then face the possibility he had died. He retracted from the meeting when Alpha Quintesson contacted him. While Avalon knew he had to be somewhere within Unicron's body, Alpha Quintesson had not been able to find him due to the Chaos Bringer still being largely non-functional. Avalon wished to act, but Alpha Quintesson ensured him that they only needed to wait for Unicron to recover. No Exit

Over-Run told Avalon of his visions and that he thought there was a spy at work, not realizing it was Avalon himself. Doomsday Redux! To prevent the Mini-Con from getting in his way, Avalon redirected a ghostly Starscream to take out Over-Run. Armageddon Part 1 Soon, he transported one of Ironhide's old seismic warheads to Alpha Quintesson Armageddon Part 2 and he launched the Initiator to bring the Quintesson war-fleet to this reality. However, this got Avalon noticed by Levitacus, who fought him in single combat. While Avalon won the battle, he was stabbed by Wheeljack on Megatron's order and he died after sending the warhead. Notes

• When Avalon is first named in "Multiplicity", he is drawn as one of the "extra" councilors while Levitacus is drawn as what later turns out to be Avalon's real look. Totally not confusing.
• Although never seen in the published comics, Avalon's Cybertronian alternate mode was designed by artist Alex Milne for the never-released Energon More Than Meets The Eye series by Dreamwave Productions.^[1]
