Dr. Meridian, also known as Mandroid (not to his face), is a former G.H.O.S.T. scientist who served in the Autobot-Decepticon war on Earth. After losing his right arm during the conflict, he gained a new hatred against the entire Cybertronian species. Now with a twisted new mindset and a horde of Arachnamechs at his disposal, he seeks to become the protector of Earth and its inhabitants he believes they need, through the annihilation of all Cybertronians. In order to accomplish this mission, he decides it's necessary to become more like them—even if he must sacrifice his mind and body in the process.

Meridian taught at the same university as Alex Malto. Prime Time He was drafted by G.H.O.S.T. during the war to work in robotics. He worked in a lab in San Francisco until the building was destroyed by Autobot friendly fire during the Battle of the Bay and he had to be pulled from the rubble by his Arachnamechs. Gaining a hatred of the aliens warring on Earth, he resolved to do his utmost to destroy them. Age of Evolution, Part 1

Years later, he had set up base in Pennsylvania, not far from G.H.O.S.T. HQ in Witwicky, and had his Arachnamechs attack G.H.O.S.T. convoys. They were able to intercept the transport carrying the Decepticon Hardtop, and Meridian removed the Con's right arm, Secret Legacy, Part 1 attaching it to himself to replace the arm he'd lost during the war. Learning of new Transformers, Meridian was able to fake a G.H.O.S.T. convoy to abduct them for examination. Learning that they were unlike the other Cybertronians, he dubbed the pair "Cybertronus terrans", leading them to dub him "Mandroid" in response. When Optimus Prime turned up with forces to rescue the two Terrans, Mandroid unleashed Hardtop, Shrapnel, Bombshell and Skullcruncher to fight them while he hastily escaped. Secret Legacy, Part 2 Finding it difficult to aim and fire a Cybertronian-sized blaster with Hardtop's arm, Mandroid ordered his Arachnamechs to capture him more Cybertronians. Traditions

Gaining the services of Nova Storm and Skywarp, Mandroid sent the pair to attack a televised Autobot Alliance ceremony with the aim of obtaining Optimus Prime's left arm. Though they failed, Mandroid switched to a more subtle plan, using the pair as bait in a trap. The trap resulted in him capturing Megatron and Dot Malto — though the latter rebuffed his invitation to join his crusade against the Cybertronians — and he dispatched the two Seekers with Arachnamechs, this time intending to use the captives as hostages to obtain the arm he wanted. Age of Evolution, Part 1 Though he had his Arachnamechs hunt Dot through the base, she was able to get out a signal. When Optimus and the two Terrans arrived at his base as captives of more Terrans posing as bounty hunters, Mandroid quickly saw through the deception. Mandroid unleashed the full power of his base, revealing it to be a giant mech. The ensuing battle saw the defeat of the mech, though Mandroid still made his escape. Age of Evolution, Part 2

So you see, that's where the trouble began...that smile...that damn smile..

After his defeat by the Terrans, Mandroid began collaborating with the underground Bot Brawl ring in Philadelphia, developing a cognitive inhibitor capable of forcing Cybertronians to fight while attached to them, solving its organizers' dino-problem in exchange for spare parts from the scrapped combatants. Home, Part 1 He took the left arm of the fallen Brawl as his own, though his increasing number of Cybertronian prosthetics began to wreak havoc on his body, and forced him to begin consuming energon to survive. When Bumblebee and the Maltos began investigating the remains of Bot Brawl arena he operated out of, he managed to use a new version of inhibitor chip to take control of Hashtag. Making his escape, he ordered the controlled Hashtag to make sure she returned to him with her Terran siblings, either whole or in pieces. However, the Terrans were eventually able to break his control of their sister and free her. Mandroid eventually rendezvoused with the Bot Brawl's organizer, G.H.O.S.T. Agent Karen Croft, who formally recruited him to help construct more control badges, offering him both energon and the captured Decepticon prisoners of G.H.O.S.T. as his test subjects. Home, Part 2

While under Croft, Mandroid created a line of Ghoids to serve as her personal enforcers. Stowed Away, Stowaways Mandroid's health continued to deteriorate, but after Croft gave him access to G.H.O.S.T.'s network and he was able to spy on the Autobots, he discovered the answer in the form of the cyber-sleeves worn by Robby and Mo. He successfully trapped the Malto kids in the Autobot rec room simulation and set a holographic Megatron on them, only for them to overcome the simulation thanks to the power of Quintus Prime. Mandroid subsequently requested Croft bring him the Emberstone. Disarmed She eventually supplied it and Mandroid installed it directly into a harness strapped to his body. This allowed him to access Quintus Prime's ship, though he was surprised to find the Malto family on board, and attempted to crash it into Earth to get rid of them. He subsequently found himself in a fight with a Quintus-powered Mo Malto, who was able to lever the Emberstone from his chest. Prime Time Mandroid found Croft cleaning up around the spacebridge and presented her with a device able to disable anyone wearing a G.H.O.S.T. badge. Though she immediately attempted to use the device on him, Mandroid revealed that she should be worried about the Maltos instead, before he activated the spacebridge and stepped through. The Battle of Witwicky

The portal took Mandroid into deep space where he encountered the Sharkticons and helped them liberate their planet from their oppressors. Over the course of a year or so, he was able to cure his condition by upgrading his body with cybernetics until he was little more than a head floating in a huge tank-like body. Returning to Earth only moments after he left via space bridge time-warp fudgery with Razor-Fin and Blitzwave, he had the pair capture the human members of the Malto family so he could wire them to the spacebridge and turn it into a superweapon capable of wiping out energon-based lifeforms worldwide. By way of demonstration, he used it to kill Croft, who had been infused with energon thanks to the control device he'd given her. He was attacked by Bumblebee, Schloder, Twitch and Nightshade, who made off through the spacebridge with his spear. Undaunted, Mandroid activated the erection of a huge spire which raised the spacebridge high into the air. The Last Hope, Part 1

He reactivated the Autobots who had earlier been deactivated by his control device, using his influence over them to force them to protect the spire. Despite this, Twitch and Thrash managed to get through the spire defense and face him directly. Though the pair were eventually able to overcome him, he had successfully delayed them long enough that his superweapon was fully charged, and he unleashed its power, deactivating Autobot, Decepticon, Terran and Sharkticon alike. Laughing that he had finally rid the world of "those monsters", Mandroid fell silent, an apparent victim of his own weapon. His victory was short lived, as Robby and Mo were able to use their cyber-sleeves to reverse the effects. The Last Hope, Part 2

One Face of Darkness.

Prior to his defeat, Mandroid created a digital copy of his own consciousness as a failsafe in case anything happened to him. Unfortunately, this new Mandroid AI was unable to interact with the physical world, so it uploaded itself into a gigantic Arachnamech and set up shop in an abandoned G.H.O.S.T. base, where it worked on perfecting new mind control patches and gathering information on the Energon Activator, an ancient Decepticon superweapon. As something in the patch prevented the possessed bots from interacting with the Activator's Spark-Interface, the Mandroid AI instead opted to announce his own "return" to the Maltos, secretly taking control of Optimus Prime to trick Bumblebee into retrieving the pieces to "stop him". Along the way, the Mandroid AI continually taunted Bumblebee and used his drones and other Transformers under his control to provide just enough resistance that the Autobot wouldn't assume anything was amiss.

Once Bumblebee had retrieved all the pieces, the Mandroid AI revealed the ruse and set Optimus and his other controlled Transformers against Bumblebee while he reassembled the Activator. Fortunately Bumblebee overcame Optimus and disrupted the assembly process, buying enough time for Alex and the Terrans to arrive with a device that disabled the mind control. Unable to comprehend this newest loss, the Mandroid AI could only curse as Bumblebee fired a final blast, destroying the giant Arachnamech. In the aftermath, despite Thrash's worry of the Mandroid AI returning, Twitch doubted that the AI could have escaped the Arachnamech's destruction given the base's terrible wi-fi reception. Mandroid is a Build a Figure split into components across the first 3 waves of Earthspark Deluxe Class figures. The figure is articulated at the neck, shoulders, and hips, but lacks elbows or knees. Strangely, Mandroid does have lateral thigh swivels and extra butterfly joints inside the torso's shoulders, not that they're terribly useful. His removable backpack features two ball-jointed manipulator arms and his personal insignia sculpted into the back of it. Unique to this Build a Figure, Shockwave and Starscream both include the same piece, an alternate Cybertronian left arm that can replace his human one, seemingly patterned on Nova Storm's. Be warned, the ball joints on Mandroid are extremely tight and can snap if too much force is applied during assembly.
Unfortunately, the Mandroid right leg features a slightly lighter shade of brown on his pants, making it inconsistent with the right leg and the torso's pants piece.
The TakaraTomy releases of the Deluxes ditched the Mandroid BAF pieces for deco improvements.
