This article is about the guy who is definitely Spock. For the actor who may[1] or may not[2] also be Spock, see Leonard Nimoy.
Spock is a Federation-aligned half-Vulcan from Star Trek.

"I-CHAYA!! WHY DID YOU LEAVE ME?"

Commander Spock is the first officer on the starship Enterprise. Half-human and half-Vulcan, he is apparently of sound mental health most of the time. In some realities, he is merely a character on a television program. In others, he is made of bricks.

Along with Captain Kirk and a multitude of others, he was trapped in detention by Dr. Mayhem. After a series of failed escapes by their fellow captives, Spock pulled out his communicator and had Dr. Mayhem transported to an alien planet. He and Kirk shared a high five in the corridor outside. "The following tale of alien encounters is true, and by 'true' I mean 'false'. It's all lies, but they're entertaining lies, and in the end, isn't that the real truth? The answer is 'no'."

When the crew of the starship Enterprise detected a Federation distress call from the colony of Cygnus Seven, Spock pointed out that something was preventing them from scanning the surface of the planet, necessitating the need for a ground-based away party to investigate. Spock joined Kirk and several other members of the Enteprise as they beamed down to investigate, only to run up against a group of unmanned 20th century vehicles attacking the colony and its dilithium mine. Led to believe something strange was afoot, he restrained Hikaru Sulu from firing upon an approaching truck, which revealed itself as a giant robot after being fired upon by Kirk.

As the Decepticons revealed themselves in turn, Spock was temporarily immobilized by Soundwave's sonic weaponry, but managed to get to cover as Kirk ordered the Enterprise to launch a photon torpedo at the Decepticons. He resumed firing at their attackers with his phaser, forcing them to retreat. Spock scanned the downed Optimus Prime, detecting he was unresponsive but still online and suggested attempting to repair him. Kirk summoned Scotty and Leonard McCoy to take a look at Prime and ordered Spock to stay behind while he investigated the mine. Prime's Directive, Part One

"Do you even know who I am?"
"I think I do. Weren't you one of the Little Rascals?"

As the two specialists assessed their unusual patient, it was Spock who came up with a theory of his own; noting that the signals of electrical activity bore a similarity to the neurons in a humanoid's skull. Spock thus initiated a Vulcan mind-meld in an attempt to understand the situation, but was unprepared for the intensity and amount of its four-million-year old memories, and forced to terminate the link; in doing so, however, Spock had inadvertently roused Prime back to life, and after introducing himself Prime warned the organics that he wasn't the only Autobot on the planet. Prime carried Spock and the others back to the dilithium mineshaft where Fortress Maximus and the other Autobots had been entombed, only for Airachnid, Starscream, and Thundercracker to ambush the group and collapse the entrance to the mine in the process. "Wherever there is mystery, and the unexplained, cosmic forces shall draw me near."
"Hey, Spock, whaddya want with your hot dog?"
"Surprise me."

As the Decepticons regrouped to lay waste to the mining colony, Spock and his two shipmates ineffectually fought back against the Decepticons as they attempted to evacuate the miners. It soon became clear that the four heroes could not overpower the Decepticon force, forcing Spock to take the only logical action and surrender on the condition that the Federation miners go free—much to the amusement of the Klingon Kuri, whose forces had formed an alliance with the Decepticons. Before Starscream could execute Prime, however, Kirk and the other Autobots arrived to save the day—with Kirk piloting Fortress Maximus, the Autobot's alternate mode reshaped into a copy of the Enterprise. As the Autobots and Decepticons went head to head, Spock and the other humans were beamed aboard by Kirk, who transformed the Autobot ship into the mighty "Fortress Tiberius" to deal with the Decepticon Trypticon. Prime's Directive, Part Three

As the two giant Transformers clashed, Spock tried to remind his friend to keep Starfleet directives in mind, worrying that the battle would end with the taking of life, though Kirk—his shared mind clouded by Fortress Maximus's own rage—initially ignored his advice until Kirk was able to reassert his own consciousness, sending Trypticon and his Decepticon allies fleeing, and allowing Spock and the other crew members of the Enterprise to arrest the Klingons. The peace was not to last, however, as Kirk had learned that Starscream had previously absconded with a load of dilithium and now planned to conquer the Klingon homeworld of Kronos. As the real Enterprise had been disabled by Trypticon, Kirk piloted Fortress Tiberius and the Autobots to rendezvous with the ship, beaming Spock and the other members of the crew aboard to begin repairs. "What do you mean, 'your work is done?' You didn't do anything."
"Didn't I?"

Now acting-captain of the real Enterprise while Kirk remained aboard Fortress Maximus, Spock and the other members of the Enterprise agreed to assist Optimus Prime in preventing the dilithium-powered Starscream from conquering Kronos. Faced with the seemingly-insurmountable power of the Decepticons, Prime's words inspired Kirk and Scotty to use the ship's onboard replicator and a series of armored suits that combined Starfleet and Autobot technology. It was in one such suit that Spock joined in the battle, facing off against Acid Storm alongside Windblade and Scotty before another paralyzing blast from Soundwave immobilized the robots. The day was saved by Kuri and his fellow Klingons, however, who successfully turned the tables on the Decepticons with their warbird fleet.

In the aftermath, Spock and the other crew members of the Enterprise were on hand to help negotiate a tentative truce between the Federation and the Klingon Empire, while Optimus and the other Autobots left aboard Fortress Tiberius to travel the galaxy. Prime's Directive, Part Five

Commercial appearances

  • Along with Bumblebee, Spock was one of many pop culture icons who were hanging out at Paramount Mountain and saw the arrival of the water bucket from Flashdance. Before the others reenacted the movie's famous scene, Spock expressed some distaste for it.[3]

Notes

You shouldn't have left him on Genesis.
  • Leonard Nimoy portrayed Spock on Star Trek.
  • Wheelie's line is the first of three references to Spock in Dark of the Moon, referencing Nimoy's presence among the cast as the voice of Sentinel Prime. The second is Sentinel's own line, "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few." Finally, Bumblebee plays a voice clip of Spock saying "I will always be your friend", from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.
  • Spock was involved in IDW's Infestation, where he, Kirk, and McCoy were responsible for defeating their universe's version of Britt.
  • Spock's logical character was the inspiration for Shockwave.[4]
  • In the Infestation sketchbook, a zombified, rotting Spock is shown clawing his way out of a Mark VI torpedo casing filled with highly evolved worms. The notion that Spock could "rise from the dead" out of a Mark VI torpedo casing is of course ridiculous and merits no further discussion.
